Frequently Asked Questions

There is no formal experience required to participate in our Pilates instructor training in Tampa

Group fitness teaching experience is preferred but not required.

We recommend taking at least 20 reformer and mat Pilates classes before beginning your training.

Yes! You must also complete the remaining Balanced Body® Comprehensive Certification requirements and take the practical and written exam. Please see Balanced Body’s website for more details.

The curriculum is guided by movement science and rooted in the Pilates methodology. The same principles and movement skills are applied to both Mat and Reformer, providing a robust foundation of teaching skills that can be applied to one body or many.

No. At the completion of your test out, you will be a certified group Pilates Instructor. You will be welcome to audition for employment at the Pilates Krewe. However, participation in this program does not guarantee employment with The Pilates Krewe or any other employer.

Yes. This training is specially designed to be done as a whole. The value you are getting for the price is still a significant savings compared to taking all of the modules individually, and it never hurts to learn from a new voice and retake a module you have previously completed.

This is a Group Reformer and Mat Training certification powered by Balanced Body®. Balanced Body® is a world-renowned Pilates name with an impeccable reputation. Of course, it is up to each studio/facility which certifications they accept, and we encourage you to contact the studios if you have a specific studio in mind before beginning this program.

This training specializes in teaching Pilates to a group. This is not commonly taught in a comprehensive certification, making transitioning to a group instructor a significant leap. Becoming a certified group instructor prepares you to teach many bodies all the fundamental Pilates movements.

We understand that, like everything with Pilates, training is a significant investment. If you cannot pay the amount, we will hold this training again and announce dates as soon as possible so you can plan ahead.

Balanced Body provides financing to those who qualify via their website during the registration program, and The Pilates Krewe enables students to split their $1299 payment into five monthly installments.

The Mat Pilates module is currently not available as a separate training program.

Balanced Body requirements for Group Reformer and Mat combined certification test out include:
  • 35 hours of observation
  • 35 hours of personal practice
  • 50 hours of student teaching

For information on adequately attaining these requirements, please contact our program director.

We have additional observation and student teaching requirements if you choose to audition for employment with The Pilates Krewe. They can be achieved in combination with Balanced Body’s requirements.
